Cheap date ideas!

Hey guys!

Dating can be nerve wracking, and if you are in a relationship, it can sometimes be a mission to come up with something for date night!

So, here are some ideas for a cheap date night!

Get takeout, go to the beach and eat your dinner in your car! Super cute, minimal effort and also lovely because not only do you get fed, but you get to admire the beach!

Play a game of pool! I personally love this one, even though I am so, so crap at it. Playing pool is extremo cheap. Grab a few drinks, and try and kick his butt!

Create a den! Set up camp in the living room, make it cosy, string some fairy lights and snuggle watching a movie. (Don't do this if you live in shared accommodation because they may get annoyed)

An idea I recently saw on sprinkleofglitter.blogspot.co.nz/, was the $5 dinner date! Check out her blog post here

If you have any more date ideas, let me know!

Hope you all have a wonderful day x

Maybelline–’The Turbo Express’ mascara review!

Hey guys!

Recently I tried out a new mascara from Maybelline called ‘The Turbo Express’ (waterproof)

I purchased it because I was looking for a good waterproof mascara, that would make my lashes stand out and not require lots of applications.

2013-09-06 15.40.23

I do think that a girl needs a set of mascaras for different occasions. For example, I wouldn't use a waterproof mascara everyday because it can be quite difficult to take off I find.

I would use this Maybelline mascara for events, nights out and rainy days! The times when I don’t want to get panda eyes!

2013-09-25 14.30.41-2

As you can see in the above picture, it extends your eyelashes and goes on easily. My only issue is that it can get clumpy. I deliberately left it in this photo so you guys can see what I mean.

I normally use a clean mascara wand to brush out the clumps.

This brand is also waterproof, and it does last I can tell you that! Even after showering I will have to use makeup wipes!

Overall I do like this product, and I would buy Maybelline again. Maybe not this particular mascara, but for $20 I am a happy shopper!

Trust

Something I have been thinking about lately is trust, and how important it is in a relationship.

I strongly believe that without trust, you have nothing. Trust is almost the foundation of a relationship. Without it, it will crumble.

Trust, to me, is when you know that no matter what your partner says, they mean it.

Honesty, loyalty, trust.

Give and take, don't just take.

How to introduce yourself to family you haven't seen in 10yrs!

Ten years ago I traveled through the skies and across the oceans to arrive in NZ all the way from the UK.

In 5 days, I am going back on that adventure and visiting family for two weeks. Now, Skype has played a huge part in keeping in touch with family on my Mums side.

However Dads side of the family, I have barely spoken to since we left.

So!
To avoid any awkwardness I have created a few introductions for myself.
  1. Oh hi there, Glad to see you're not dead yet!
  2. Hello, I'm your grandmother. Surprise. Moisturizer works wonders, don't ya think?
  3. Yep, NZ has a lot of beaches, and wildlife, yep tigers, definitely tigers.
  4. Oh you dyed your hair! Looks great.
  5. So your that cousin...
As long as I have these up my sleeve, I think I shall successfully avoid any awkward conversations!

If you have any more tips, let me know!

How to pack for an overseas trip!

This weekend I will be on a plane to the UK!

Exciting and incredibly nerve wracking! This is such a step outside of my comfort zone, and even though the nerves in me make me want it cancel the whole thing, I have decided to go ahead with full force!

Now, I hate packing. I normally take everything including the kitchen sink, but I have weight limits for this trip so need to pack wisely! So I have formulated a plan!

How to pack for an overseas trip!

1. Make a list! Break up your list into subheadings with things like underwear, pajamas, daytime clothes, night time/party wear etc etc.

2. Pack according to how long you are going for. For example I am going for two weeks. But I shall pack one weeks worth of outfits and just do a quick wash for the next week! This means that my bag will be light and I can pack in all my shopping on the way back!!

3. Get separators for your suitcase. Put things into bags and label people label! This way you can find everything and no stress! Woo!

4. Where all the heavy things. Therefore your bag will be light and you can bring more things home!
Yes, you may be wearing 5 jumpers and 3 pairs of jeans BUT bigger picture people!

5. You can buy cute transparent bottle from places like Kmart or even online. These would be perfect for any lotions, shampoos or body washes etc etc!

I also found a very cool app that you may find handy if you are in the same predicament as me!
Its called 'Packing Pro' and you can get it from the Apple store!

Let me know how you pack for a trip!

How to stress less!

Hey guys!

In a few weeks I will be heading to the UK to visit my family!

Yes it is very exciting!!
Yes it is going to be amazing!

BUT. I am also very stressed and nervous.
So this is a post, to just let you know about the different ways I combat stress.

My Stress Weapons

To do lists!
To do lists are my go to weapon when I am stressed out of my brains. I find that putting everything on paper, organising the chaos in my head, works amazingly. All of a sudden, I know what I need to do first, and how I am going to approach it.

Exercise!
I am a huge advocate for walking off your stress. Take 20mins of of your day to go for a wander! Get some fresh air and I promise you, you will feel tons better.

Nap!
Nap, but nap quickly. If everything is getting just a bit too much, and you feel exhausted and totally drained. Have a power nap, 10mins of quiet time works wonders.

Weapons to NOT use

Eating.
DO NOT raid the fridge. This will not make you feel better or less stressed. It will make you feel fat and worse.

Binge Drinking.
Just don't. No need. Pointless. End of.

Self harm
Once again, no need. Pointless. What will self harm accomplish in the long run? Nothing.

If you are feeling incredibly overwhelmed, or stressed, tell someone! Have a good chat to a close friend or family member. It is not good to bottle things up. When you bottle things up, and you shake that bottle, that bottle will explode everywhere, causing a mess you do not want to clean up.

A few good sites!

'A Thrifty Mrs' has a great blog post on free planners which are awesome and also freee! Check it out here

Download the app, 'Unstuck'. Such an amazing app, and I highly recommend this for everyone! It basically helps you nut down you problem and point you in the right direction. Check out their Tumblr here!

Let me know what you use to combat stress!

Clinque Lipstick Palette review

Hello Lovelies!

Aaaaaaand I am back with another Clinque lipstick review.

The Butter Shine Lipstick pallete, with 'Pink-a-boo', 'Rosalita', 'Rasberry Rush' and 'Cranberry Cream'.

Oooh tasty!

(From L to R)  Pink-a-boo', 'Rosalita', 'Raspberry Rush', 'Cranberry Cream'.

This palette is more like a lip gloss palette than a lipstick.

The wear is not as long as an actual lipstick, and the colors are light and glossy.

Looks lovely as a lip gloss and occasionally I may team the light one over a darker lipstick.

This is perfect for subtle day wear! You could wear this for work, or even school!

It comes with a little applicator brush, however do be warned, it gets messy. I deliberately left it messy in the middle picture so you guys could see what can happen.
Needs a regular clean with a cotton bud to make the surface smooth-tastic!

I do find it difficult to define my cupids bow, and using this applicator was amazing!

Perfect for the handbag and when you need a quick make-up pick me up!

First, chop up some carrots into sticks, and then smaller again.
Second, toss your sticks in a bowl with a little bit of oil and seasoning
third, bake at 180c for 20-30 mins

EASY!

Clinique Lipstick review!

Hello lovely people of the world wide web.

I have recently harbored a new found love for lipsticks! *crowd cheers*

I avoided lipsticks for a very long time, mainly because I thought I looked ridiculous. Little did I know, this was because I was wearing all the wrong colors for my pale, freckly face.

For Christmas last year, my Nan sent me this. This is a Clinque lipstick, in number 19, extreme pink.

Extreme sounds kind of scary, don't you think? I must admit I felt like a risk taker, wearing 'extreme' lipstick!

Look at the lovely mint colored casing!

Now I am well aware that the next picture makes it look like I have been eating it, and I would like to assure you, this is not the case.

Beautiful extreme pink!
First of all, I love the Clinque brand. It is amazing. Every single product I have used from them, whether it is lipstick, moisturizer, or mascara, I have love love LOVED it.

It applied easily, it did not crack, and it lasts.
Now it did not last for the whole day, but a decent amount of time.
The easy application made it so simple to shape and frame my lips without any smudging, and the color is perfect for day AND night wear.

Also, occasionally I smear it on my cheeks, rub it in, and cover slightly with powder. Perfect blusher, that lasts. I know this may not be a beauty school technique, but it is something a friend showed me and I highly reccomend trying it. Obviously, not with a bright pink or red highlighter lipstick! It really depends on what shade you have, and whether it matches your blusher or not!

Now that I am on a roll with my lipstick testing, let me know what brands or colors to try!

Have a good weekend folks!

xx

How to procrastinate properly!

Hello my lovelies!

As some of you may know, I am a great procrastinator. Somehow I will manage to find anything and everything to do, instead of completing the most important task. If this were a class, I would be the star pupil.

My to do list normally goes like this;
  • write a to-do list
  • scratch off first thing, because thats already done
  • go the toliet
  • etc etc

And all of a sudden, I have scratched off about 20things, and I am feeling extremely successful! Hurrah! 10 points for me!

So here are a few tips on how to procrastinate properly!
Its go hard or go home around here!

First of all start with easy procrastination. You don't want it to be to difficult otherwise you may as well do the highest priority job first. Always start simple.

For example, have a shower! Easy and fun. Or venture to the fridge! Again, easy and fun! These procrastinating tasks need to have an element of pleasure in them, otherwise you're wasting your time.

Once you have completed the easiest tasks, proceed to tasks you have been meaning to do for a while. This stage is often called procrastination cleaning. Clean out that wardrobe you haven't done yet, or go and clean your car! You know how important it is to have a clean car? Very!

Now if at this point you are still procrastinating, and the main important task, isnt that important yet. You may need to resort to procrastersize. Procrastination exercise. (See what I did there, Huh? Huh?)
Go for a run, or a walk. Whatever takes your fancy, your options are endless!

And then, if you are still procrastinating, repeat again, and again!

Hope you find this helpful! :) xxx

V05 Shampoo and Conditioner review

Hey guys!

I bought these from the supermarket a few days ago and love, love, love them already!

I take huge pleasure in my shower time as its my thinking and relaxing space, so bath products are  guilty pleasure of mine. I love all the beautiful and wonderful smells!
Quite often I will have a number of products going at the same time, so lets just say it can get a little cluttered!
However, I can safely say these have secured a place on my bench.

I love the packaging and the colors! I thought they looked very similar to products from a salon and the color combo is adorable.

The shampoo and conditioner passed with flying colors, After using it, my hair was very soft and smelt amazing, it also looked a lot glossier.

Highly recommend this range!

Love, happiness, and other quotes!

I saw this post on Pinterest and it is such a perfect fit for today.

Each quote makes me smile and realise that just because you have one crappy moment it doesn't mean that each moment will be the same.

I particularly love 'Where there is love, there is life' - Gandhi.

I hope this gives you an extra motivational boost to make it to Friday!

Personal update!

Hello!

Apologies, as today is Monday, obviously. Or if you are elsewhere in this world, it may be Sunday. In which case I shall retract my apology.

I went away for the weekend! And had no wifi or mobile coverage! Which, by the way, is the best feeling in the world. I vote there should be one day a week which is technology free! I honestly think it would make for happier relationships and more memorable times.

We went up north, to Kanes aunties farm, so beautiful!  Weekend consisted of drinking, BBQs, bonfires, quad bikes, flats tyres, and lots of adventures! Getting away from the humdrum of the suburbs and getting into the country was so relaxing! It's times like that which make me realise what a beautiful country I live in. It was also so lovely to meet Kane's side of the family, and once again thank you so much for having us xx

This week is my last week of the holidays, and also my first week of my job! So fingers crossed it all goes to plan! The past 6 weeks have been a wee bit shite money wise, so i am looking forward to everything falling into place. I know money is not the be all and end of all of this world, but I got me some bills to pay gurrrrl! Sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with the hand life dealt ya!

This week is also week 1 of the skinny attempt. Now don't get me wrong, I do not want to be a twig. Like someone who turns around and disappears. But I would LOVE to drop a size. Please understand that I am all for body confidence and size or shape, who cares as long as you're happy!! But the chocolate and lazy eating has got to me, and healthy eating here I come! I have decided that I will eat as healthy as a hippy, and walk everyday. Also I am doing the 30 day butt challenge because you know, in order to twerk you need the bootay. I shall let you know how it goes!

So that is the quick update of the week!

Hope you all have a lovely week and make sure at least one exciting thing happens!
